Jim,

Gained 18 degrees latitude and 20degrees F. Go figure. Hope the cold snap breaks for you soon. Meanwhile, life is good here in Cordova. I am made to feel welcome and enjoying lots of freedom from everything except what I want to do, just as a sabbatical should be. Long dawn yields to daylight at about 9 am, the reverse at about 5 pm, gaining about 4 minutes every day. Eagles and otters are the only wild life seen so far, not counting locals. I have always enjoyed working on my stuff before daylight, so the routine here is rather gratifying. Education people at the Science Center taped me for a community talk on Beirng Glacier research, so pay back is fair play. Getting along fine for the time being with my old laptop, but it does limit me to word processing - okay on short term.

Hey, if you send faculty to Buffalo for Teaching Conference, please ask them to be prepared to share the essence upon return. I'd like to know what transpires. It parallels what Jack and I are trying to get started on our campus.

All for now. Best to crew, especially Diana.

Jay
