Every two months I receive an email about up and coming "webcasts" about
various teaching and learning topics.  These are free.  I thought some of
the people on the Teaching Breakfast group might be interested in not only
the current topics but in the idea of a webcast.  Below is the most recent

The following Technology Source Author Forums are scheduled in May and June.
These forums are offered in collaboration with ULiveandLearn, an e-learning
company that uses a webcast platform to allow participants to interact
directly with TS authors via their desktops. You may sign up to participate

Forums Scheduled for Wednesday, May 7, 2003

12:30 P.M. – 1:15 P.M. Eastern Time (ET): Janet de Vry and George Watson
will describe a dynamic partnership at the University of Delaware: the joint
efforts of a faculty-led institute that promotes problem-based learning and
a technology support center that connects course goals to custom design.

2:00 P.M. – 2:45 P.M. ET: David Cillay, a senior instructional designer at
the University of Idaho, will explain the advantages of his “multi-modal”
approach to online course delivery. Cillay makes use of both synchronous and
asynchronous learning environments, audio and video components, and graphic
and textual content to accommodate students with a wide range of learning

3:30 P.M. – 4:15 P.M. ET: Mark Kassop has deep roots in the physical
classroom: He has taught for 31 years on a traditional college campus. This
experience notwithstanding, Kassop will engage forum participants in a
spirited discussion of the ways in which online education matches or

1:00 P.M. – 1:45 P.M. ET: Cheryl Knowles-Harrigan custom-designed a tutorial
to orient community college students to their institution’s course
management system. She will answer questions about the development process
and offer practical suggestions to anyone interested in creating a similar

 2:00 P.M. – 2:45 P.M. ET: Thomas Brothen and Cathrine Wambach, both
psychology professors at the University of Minnesota, will elaborate on the
difficulties of using computerized testing in a high-demand environment and

3:00 P.M. – 3:45 P.M. ET: Consultant Marc Prensky will discuss the
implications of the gap between Digital Natives and Digital Immigrants for
