Tbers, This email is to make you aware of two Internet based resources that I find very valuable in keeping up with issues in higher education and faculty development. The first is POD, an excellent faculty development organization you can participate in. In particular, POD's listserv is often full of excellent discussions about improving teaching and learning. You can find out more about this by visiting their web site at: http://www.podnetwork.org The second is a technology called RSS (Really Simple Syndication) which is popularly known as "podcasting" (no relation to POD mentioned above). RSS allows you to set up your computer to automatically go out on the Internet and bring down programs of interest to you as they become available. Software such as iTunes, Pluck, Feed Daemon, etc., which are all free downloads, can be used to subscribe to these RSS feeds. For example, the John Merrow series on higher education can be subscribed to at: http://feeds.feedburner.com/johnmerrow If you would like to know more about either of these resources please contact me. Remember, our next Teaching Breakfast get together is Oct. 5 at 8 am in Morris Hall. Mr. James B.
