All faculty are expected to demonstrate professional growth and development, which means different things in different academic disciplines (i.e. geology vs. music).  How can this be conveyed effectively when it comes time for decisions on retention, promotion, tenure? How do local standards for promotion/retention/continuing appointment relate to the criteria for the Chancellor’s Awards and the Distinguished Professor rank?

These questions, and perhaps more will be discussed over coffee at the last TB meeting of the semester.
