Jim,
My question about good techniques for teaching online might pertain to either traditional classes using hybrid methods, or entirely online classes.
I have a project the students like that asks them to pose important ethical questions in the modern music and entertainment industries.
We do that on Angel over the course of three days, and there are 10 ethical questions each semester.

I wonder if I could make that project more interesting, or make new projects that will help the students use (and thus remember) information we learn in class. I have 60 students responding every week to new ethical questions, so It takes a lot of time to go through all of their answers.

I'd like my online work to be more interactive with students - - it just seems to take an astonishing amount of time.
Has some one solved this problem?
Thanks
JANET

Janet,

To clarify, do you mean large sections of traditionally taught courses that might use online technologies to better engage students, or do you mean large sections of completely online students?

Thanks for the article on large classes, Jim. I especially liked the one entitled "101 Ways to Learn Names in large classes."
Can you point us to articles you thought were especially helpful for engaging large classes of students online?
How many online students constitute a "large" class? Thanks
Janet

Large Classes Resource Page Tbers,

Over the years we’ve had many a sharing session on large class teaching strategies. This page, from Western Washington University, is one of the better resources I’ve seen on this topic.
