TBers,

Below is an email from the SUNY Learning Network (SLN) that I send only as a thought point. In the email, SLN is asking campuses that use their service to provide a list of the courses offered through SLN so they can build a complete online catalog. If you have never seen this catalog it is worth browsing. It contains the hundreds (perhaps thousands) of completely online courses being offered in SUNY. It has them by campus, by major, by discipline, etc. More and more the citizens of New York are catching a glimpse of SUNY through this interface. See:

Subject: [sln_id] SLN Course Catalog Upload: Winter 2012/13 & Spring 2013

Dear Campus Partners,

Now is the time to prepare your courses for the SLN Online Course Catalog. Winter 2012/13 and Spring 2013 course listings will be published and made available on October 3, 2012.

Course files should be submitted through the SLN HelpDesk <http://sln.suny.edu/help/help_overview.shtml><%3chttp:/sln.suny.edu/help/help_overview.shtml%3e> or email <[log in to unmask]<mailto:[log in to unmask]>> and may be submitted at any time. Please do not send your files to individual SLN staff. The earlier you can send the files, the better for prospective students. We will continue to accept new and revised course files after the catalog is live. Sample files, instructions and documentation on preparing a course file for upload are available at the SLN Services website <http://wiki.sln.suny.edu/x/qIcF><http://wiki.sln.suny.edu/x/qIcF>, if needed.

This is also a good time to verify your campus’ information on the SLN website <http://www.sln.suny.edu><http://www.sln.suny.edu/>. Be sure to check that your degree listings, campus profile pages, and contact information on the SLN website are up to date. Please submit any revisions or changes via the SLN HelpDesk.

Lastly, it gives us great pleasure to announce that the new course catalog, developed in-house, will be going live for this semester. This new catalog will provide much more robust search functionalities for students looking for online courses. Many thanks to the SLN programming staff for their excellent work on developing this catalog.
