Gather with colleagues for a conference - including practical workshop sessions - designed to enable faculty, librarians, instructional designers, educational technologists and academic leaders to understand and implement high-quality courses
based on open educational resources (OER).
Learn how you and your institution can adopt, adapt and build OER to increase affordability and access for students, give faculty greater engagement in teaching and learning, and measure and demonstrate OER’s impact on educational outcomes
and costs.
Come away from the conference with:
- Answers to questions like:
- How to get started using OER?
- How can faculty use OER to strengthen, customize and enhance course materials?
- How can we ensure the quality of OER-based courses and content remains high?
- How can faculty get support to switch to open content?
- How can you use the transition to OER to improve learning?
- How to get started using OER?
- The practices, tools and resources you’ll need to start using OER right away.
- Ready-to-teach courses with your learning outcomes aligned to OER.
- Opportunities to collaborate within and across disciplines to foster open education.
Come prepared to the conference by bringing:
- An understanding of your institution’s mission and goals to think how they could be supported through the adoption of OER.
- Knowledge about the high-enrollment courses at your institution where a move to OER would impact the most students.
- Your Internet-ready personal computer (PC or MAC)
- Access to the syllabus, course description, learning outcomes and assessments of courses that you would like to move to use OER.
This conference is being presented jointly by Herkimer College and Lumen Learning, and is funded by a SUNY Innovative Instruction Technology Grant (IITG.)
A light breakfast and lunch will be provided both days. Overnight accommodations are available in Herkimer and the surrounding communities:
