Hi, Chilton

The article you’ve recommended,  Making Teaching Manageable in Spring 2021, is a very good summary of practical advice.  It speaks to pacing a course in a way that will optimize student learning.  I felt that the article title sounded like a way to recognize faculty burden, but instead, it spoke about ways to increase student learning and retention of that learning.

Thanks for sharing.

Janet

Subject: Reminder of Teaching Breakfast Online, Thursday, January 28, STARTING AT 8:30

Hello all!

I hope you are all well and staying sane in these extraordinary times.  In an effort to have some consistency and normalcy (at least a little bit!) the TLTC and Faculty Center are holding Teaching Breakfasts Online every Thursday morning throughout the semester as a place to come together online to talk about the new modalities you are using to teach and hopefully share and get a few answers.  Each Thursday we will meet online in our Teaching Breakfast Teams space from 8:30-10:00am.  If you are free at all during this time, please feel free to join the conversation.

Teaching Breakfast Online is tomorrow, Thursday, January 28, from 8:30 - 10:00am.   We will be connecting here: Join the Teaching Breakfast Online Teams Meeting

Our theme for this week will be “Making Teaching Manageable.”  Here is an article that explores some ideas for creating realistic goals for this semester: Making Teaching Manageable in Spring 2021

It comes from Georgetown University so some of the information is specific to their campus, but there are some different links that lead to many more suggestions.

We look forward to talking more about your ideas from the upcoming semesterLook forward to seeing you Thursday if you can make it!

Also, starting next week, we will be expanding the Teaching Breakfast. We will begin offering a Coffee Break on Wednesdays at 2:00pm.  The topic will be the same for both sessions so choose the one that best works with your schedule.  Our hope is that we can include a larger audience in our discussions.
