Hello all! Welcome back to campus. I hope the second week of classes is going smoothly as you and your student continue to figure out how to navigate the current norms.

Over the past year we have expanded the Teaching Breakfast by meeting weekly and creating two opportunities to join in the conversation: Teaching Breakfast on Thursday mornings and Coffee Chat on Wednesday afternoons. We would like to continue with this schedule for the coming semester as well. Our plan is to begin the semester by holding Teaching Breakfast and Coffee Chats both in-person and online. If you feel comfortable participating in person, come on down! If you would rather meet via Teams, hop on your computer! These spaces will continue to be a place to come together to talk about new modalities you might be using to teach and hopefully share and get a few answers. Here is the information for when and where we will be meeting this semester:

  * Coffee Break, Wednesday afternoons, 2:00-3:00pm: Fitzelle Faculty Lounge, Room 159 and on the Coffee Chat Teams space<https://teams.microsoft.com/l/meetup-join/19%3ameeting_ZGQ2ZGY0NmQtOGMwYS00ZDUwLTkyNmYtYmVmMTM4NmQ5NDg4%40thread.v2/0?context=%7b%22Tid%22%3a%22b2c9b1a8-d1ad-4c9f-9172-728a8c08eb65%22%2c%22Oid%22%3a%22acdbd4c6-8ceb-4ccb-b54d-35c4ab20321f%22%7d>.
  * Teaching Breakfast, Thursday mornings, 8:30-10:00am: Butternut Room, Hunt Union (just past Starbucks) and on the Teaching Breakfast Teams space<https://teams.microsoft.com/l/meetup-join/19%3ameeting_NDgzZTgyZTYtODEzOC00ZThjLWFjZDktZDZmYTE3OWZhMGIw%40thread.v2/0?context=%7b%22Tid%22%3a%22b2c9b1a8-d1ad-4c9f-9172-728a8c08eb65%22%2c%22Oid%22%3a%22acdbd4c6-8ceb-4ccb-b54d-35c4ab20321f%22%7d>.

Our first meetings will be this week on Wednesday (Sept. 1) and Thursday (Sept. 2). Our reading for this week is about ways to find clarity and resolve in the midst of challenging times.

  1. Dear Faculty: "Keep Walking"<https://www.insidehighered.com/advice/2020/11/24/advice-how-faculty-can-keep-going-and-find-clarity-and-resolve-during-challenging> offers some great reminders/tips as we start the semester.

We look forward to talking more about your ideas for the upcoming semester. We hope to see you on either Wednesday afternoon (Sept. 1) or Thursday morning (Sept. 2) if you can make it!
