Hello all!

I hope that the semester is continuing to go well and that you are able to have lots of meaningful learning experiences with your students.  We are continuing to expand the Teaching Breakfast/Coffee Chat conversations by alternating weekly between the two options: Coffee Chat on Wednesday afternoons and Teaching Breakfast on Thursday mornings.  We will continue to meet both in person and virtually, so if you feel comfortable participating in person, come on down; if you would rather meet via Teams, hop on your computer!  These spaces will continue to be a place to come together to talk about new modalities you might be using to teach and hopefully share and get a few answers. This week we will be holding our Teaching Breakfast:

Our reading for this week comes from Inside Higher Ed with a vision of what public universities should be.

  1. Midtier: Broad-Access Universities Are the Key to Increasing Educational Opportunity – This article from Inside Higher Ed explores potential characteristics of what successful universities can offer for students and faculty. The main points are deep into the article, so make sure to read through to the end to see the full point.  Many of the recommendations from the article are in line with what I think where we are heading as an institution.

I look forward to hearing your thoughts on how we best support our students while here on campus and prepare them for life after collegeWe hope to see you on Thursday morning for Teaching Breakfast (November 10) if you can make it!
