Center for Academic Excellence at Niagara County Community College, The SUNY
Training Center is pleased to announce the following opportunity for
professional development.
Jean Blaydes Madigan,  an internationally known expert in Action-Based
Learning

Jean Blaydes Madigan is an internationally known educational consultant,
speaker and author on the subject of how brain research supports the need
for movement
in learning and how movement enhances learning. She has made hundreds of
presentations in nine foreign countries and 48 of the 50 states. Jean has
been
teaching for 27 years in the classroom, in Physical Education and as a
college professor. Her excellence in teaching is recognized by several
awards such as
Richardson ISD Teacher of the year, Texas AHPERD Teacher of the Year, and
one of six National Elementary Physical Education Teacher of the Year as
well as the Texas AHPERD Honor Award. Jean's book, Thinking on Your Feet,
provides strategies for teaching academic standards kinesthetically to
improve student
performance. Jean is featured in 2 videos, How to Make Learning a Moving
Experience and Teaching the Teen Brain, has written numerous articles and
curricula, and has appeared on TV and radio advocating the importance of
children's health and learning. Her dynamic, interactive presentations will

learning through movement and making valuable applications that enhance

Action Based Learning: How Brain Research Links Movement to Learning
(Keynote). Neuroscientists are advocating the importance of movement and
physical activity in the learning process. Physical Education gives students
the advantage they need for increased student performance. Educators who
understand how the brain works can better teach students. This interactive
presentation will summarize recent brain research that links movement to
learning and will advocate, validate, educate and motivate!
