Dear Colleagues,

Broome Community College's Writing Initiatives Network Committee (WIhTC)
invites you to a

free, half day conference and luncheon. Conference participants will
explore strategies for using

writing effectively in the classroom.

Brian Huot, professor of English and Writing Program Coordinator at Kent
State University and

author of Re-Articulating Writing Assessment for Teaching and Learning
will deliver a keynote

address entitled "Using Writing for Teaching and Learning across the
Disciplines" at 9 AM on

Saturday, October 13, 2007 in BCC's Decker Health Science Center's Hoyt
Conference Room.

Workshop sessions following Dr. Huot's address will allow secondary and
post-secondary

educators to discuss writing across the curriculum and writing-to-learn
strategies in their

classroom. A question and answer session with Dr. Huot will wrap up
these sessions, and a free

luncheon (l2:30-1:30) will conclude the morning's activities.

We respectively request your assistance in distributing this information
throughout your

organization by e-mail or hard copy. Our conference flyer has been
attached to this letter for the

ease of printing and posting.

We thank you for your assistance in distributing information regarding
our conference with Dr.

Brian Huot.

Sincerely,

Writing Initiatives Network Committee
