Subject: Supporting Students Who Are Struggling in the Classroom - A part of Talking Teaching: A Community Roundtable with the Faculty Center, Thursday, April 4 (8:30-10:00am), Oneonta Room (room 126), Hunt Union or through Teams

Join us at Talking Teaching: A Community Roundtable, for Helping Students Be Students. Faced with ongoing pandemic conditions, faculty at SUNY Oneonta (and beyond) are thinking anew about how to best to support students who are struggling in the classroom by exploring It's Time to Start Teaching Your Students How to Be a Student. This article from the Chronicle of Higher Education shares some ideas for things to focus on with students about key skills students need to be successful in an college course. And connects this to an inclusive pedagogical approach. By being more transparent with what is expected in the classroom, it helps a wider range of students to be successful. Looking forward to hearing from you about ways you support your students in the classroom to be successful.

With the weather predictions for tomorrow I wanted to remind everyone that we do meet virtually in the Talking Teaching teams space<https://teams.microsoft.com/l/meetup-join/19%3ameeting_OTM2MjIzM2QtNzg5Yy00ZDFkLTk5MWEtZTg4MTBmZmNmN2Ix%40thread.v2/0?context=%7b%22Tid%22%3a%22b2c9b1a8-d1ad-4c9f-9172-728a8c08eb65%22%2c%22Oid%22%3a%22acdbd4c6-8ceb-4ccb-b54d-35c4ab20321f%22%7d> so feel free to join online if you'd rather not risk the weather!

The Talking Teaching discussions are a space to connect and talk about what's new in the world of teaching and learning. Each session will have a focus on a specific topic but can also be a space to talk about what is happening in the classroom and identify new modalities to explore. This is our new iteration of the Teaching Breakfast.

We will continue to meet both in person and virtually, so if you feel comfortable participating in person, we'd love to have you in the room; if you would rather meet via Teams, join from your computer. These sessions will continue to be a place to come together to talk about teaching and hopefully share a few questions and get a few answers.

Join us in person in the Oneonta Room, room 126 (just past the Experiential Learning Center on the first floor of Hunt Union) or virtually in the Talking Teaching teams space<https://teams.microsoft.com/l/meetup-join/19%3ameeting_OTM2MjIzM2QtNzg5Yy00ZDFkLTk5MWEtZTg4MTBmZmNmN2Ix%40thread.v2/0?context=%7b%22Tid%22%3a%22b2c9b1a8-d1ad-4c9f-9172-728a8c08eb65%22%2c%22Oid%22%3a%22acdbd4c6-8ceb-4ccb-b54d-35c4ab20321f%22%7d>.

We look discussing ways to help your students be more successful as students. We hope to see you on Thursday morning for Talking Teaching (April 4) if you can make it!
