Hello all!

I hope you are all well and staying sane in these extraordinary times. In an effort to maintain some normalcy the TLTC and Faculty Center are holding Teaching Breakfasts every week throughout the semester as a place to come together to talk about the new modalities you are using to teach and hopefully share and get a few answers. And to help include more in the discussion, we are continuing to offer two sessions each week to come together. This week we will meet both in-person and online in our the Teams space for the following sessions:

  * Coffee Break, Wednesday afternoons, 2:00-3:00pm: Fitzelle Faculty Lounge, Room 159 and on the Coffee Chat Teams space<https://teams.microsoft.com/l/meetup-join/19%3ameeting_ZGQ2ZGY0NmQtOGMwYS00ZDUwLTkyNmYtYmVmMTM4NmQ5NDg4%40thread.v2/0?context=%7b%22Tid%22%3a%22b2c9b1a8-d1ad-4c9f-9172-728a8c08eb65%22%2c%22Oid%22%3a%22acdbd4c6-8ceb-4ccb-b54d-35c4ab20321f%22%7d>.
  * Teaching Breakfast, Thursday mornings, 8:30-10:00am: Butternut Room, Hunt Union (just past Starbucks) and on the Teaching Breakfast Teams space<https://teams.microsoft.com/l/meetup-join/19%3ameeting_NDgzZTgyZTYtODEzOC00ZThjLWFjZDktZDZmYTE3OWZhMGIw%40thread.v2/0?context=%7b%22Tid%22%3a%22b2c9b1a8-d1ad-4c9f-9172-728a8c08eb65%22%2c%22Oid%22%3a%22acdbd4c6-8ceb-4ccb-b54d-35c4ab20321f%22%7d>.
If you are free at any point on Wednesday (Nov. 10) or Thursday (Nov. 11), please feel free to join the conversation.

This week we will be exploring ways to support disconnected students. This is a reading from the Chronicle of Higher Education:

  * 4 Simple Ways to Help your Most Disconnected Students<https://www.chronicle.com/article/4-simple-ways-to-help-your-most-disconnected-students?utm_source=Iterable&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=campaign_3094472_nl_Academe-Today_date_20211027&cid=at&source=&sourceid=> - The author of this article explores some concrete ways to help students that aren't showing up to class. As we come to the end of the semester, it's a good reminder on what some of our students might be going through and ways we can help them.
We look forward to talking more about how you are working with students that are having issues with attending classes. See you Wednesday (Coffee Break) or Thursday (Teaching Breakfast) if you can make it!
