Dear Friends,
Traditionally, administrations released news that they didn't want any one to notice on Friday evening, because no one was around on the weekend. It turns out that the world of social media works differently; the weekend is the best time to blog, facebook, tweet, etc. So releasing bad news on the weekend not only makes it more likely that there will be a negative response, but also means that the people trying to control the story are unavailable while the story deveops a life of its own.

Oh, brave new world that has such creatures in it.
