All,
This is another book by the same author that I use in a class I teach. (I know that Dr. Staley uses this one as well.) The entire book is available for free online in .pdf. http://newton.nap.edu/html/howpeople1/index.html I highly recommend this book.

Jim -
I was at a Chautauqua workshop last summer, and the presenters there were very enthusiastic about a book called "How People Learn: Bridging Research and Practice." I thought that the members of the Teaching Breakfast discussion group might find it interesting. A brief overview of the basic principles of the book is online at http://fermat.nap.edu/html/howpeople2/
