Is this a first hint of the dark side of learning analytics?

http://www.nytimes.com/2012/03/31/sports/universities-track-athletes-online-raising-legal-concerns.html

Apparently, this is a response to the N.C.A.A.’s "hint" that institutions should be tracking public information made available by student-athletes if there is a “reasonable suspicion of rules violations." Then, this must be OK, since everyone knows that the NCAA cares only about the well-being of the athletes (pardon me, "student athletes") and would never suggest anything that would abridge their rights.

TBers,

I encourage all to watch an EDUCAUSE sponsored debate about LA found here: http://www.educause.edu/ELI12/Program/FS02
