Thanks for sharing this great article.  This is the sort of "teaching tip" that was envisioned when we first started the "Teaching Breakfast" group.

As I read the article, I realized that I should (and will) write a similar piece for all the majors in my own department.  I've already started this process by producing a letter to all students, including incoming freshmen, about the departmental internship requirement.  Even our first year students, for example, need to be thinking about on-campus activities that can build their résumés to give students a greater chance for success when they apply for internships in their Junior or Senior years.  This line of thought helps first-year students give consideration to balancing their time between the classroom and experiences that will help give "real-world" meaning to their academic studies.
